Should I book to see a Podiatrist (FKA Chiropodist) or a Foot Health Practitioner (FHP)?
Before securing an appointment, it’s important to understand that a Podiatrist (FKA Chiropodist) is a degree-level professional who is registered with the HCPC, whereas an FHP has attained a diploma in foot health qualification and is not registered with the HCPC. Healthcare insurance policies do not cover treatments offered by FHPs. The range of treatments an FHP can provide is more restricted than that of a podiatrist and FHP’s scope of practice is mostly limited to the following treatments:
- Toenails Cutting & Filing
- Callus & Hard Skin Reduction
- Corns Removal
- Thickened Hard To Cut Toenails
- Ingrown Toenails (stage 1, inflamed/no infection present)
- Verruca Treatment using Verrutop
- Doppler Ultrasound Blood Flow Testing
- 5-minute testing for the presence of fungal infection in toenails
- MLS class 4 laser therapy to help treat soft tissue/joint pain and inflammation
- Assessment of small joints in feet & ankles
- Footwear advice
- Provision of prefabricated orthoses
For all other treatments, please book an appointment with a Podiatrist.
Where are your practices located?

How can I reschedule my appointment?
The simplest method to rearrange an appointment involves clicking on the “Cancel Appointment” option in the appointment notification email. Following this, you will be presented with the opportunity to reschedule the appointment at a date and time that fits your needs.
What is the length of an appointment?
We allow up to 50 minutes with a podiatrist. Foot health practitioner appointments are 30 minutes.
What should I bring to the biomechanical assessment appointment?
If you experience foot pain, then it would be important to assess the footwear that you most often use, so please bring your footwear and insoles/orthotics (if you use them). During a biomechanical assessment, various tests will be performed and we request that patients wear non-restrictive clothing like leggings/shorts (no belts or baggy t-shirts).

I have a verruca, which treatment options do you offer?
We have invested in SWIFT microwave verrucae treatment equipment, it is clinically proven to have a high success rate (approximately 76% after 3 treatments), it is a quick treatment and no dressings are required. Other options include treatment of verrucae using Verrutop, Cryotherapy (cryogen freezing to around -59° Celcius), Silver Nitrate and Salicylic Acid. Unfortunately, a verruca is caused by a virus (human papilloma virus) and currently, there is no guaranteed cure, but some treatments can help to clear them. Further information on verrucae can be found HERE.
